The Best of you base
Braes High School is fully comprehensive teaching S1 to S6 with a current roll of approximately 1,000 pupils. As part of our self-evaluation on How Good Is Our School? Quality Indicator: 3.1 Ensuring Wellbeing, Equality and Inclusion
Best of You is a wellbeing and nurturing space, which provides support for pupils across the school from S1 to S6. Over 50 pupils have planned interventions delivered by staff within the Base. In addition, many more benefit from ‘drop-in’ facilities before the school day, at intervals and lunchtimes. Pupils use the Base for quiet deregulation time, listening service and signposting and completion of academic work.
The Base is built on the belief that emotional resilience and the ability to learn are inextricably linked. With securely attached relationships, comes higher academic attainment. Staff in the Base work closely with Onwards and Upwards, Open Doors, Pastoral Teams and teachers from all faculties across the school to help ensure that pupils are supported in their health and wellbeing and thereby to achieve their full potential.
