CONTEXT / BACKGROUND
Accessible, engaging online resources were needed during the lockdown in 2020 – both for practitioners to use as teaching resources and for pupils to use independently. Several RIC padlets and wakelets were created for Senior Phase English and two are featured here.

Sometimes the biggest challenge is finding a topic. This wakelet includes television documentaries on a wide range of topics to encourage pupils to start thinking about suitable topics and approaches. There are also links to related SQA pages and to BBC Bitesize.

Pupils often struggle to choose “companion texts” for the Advanced Higher English dissertation so a padlet was created with suggested novel pairings.
HOW WE DID IT
Padlets and wakelets were created then shared in Twitter @fvwlriclit on the blog https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/glowblogs/fvwlric/literacy/ and by email.
IMPACT / OUTCOMES
- Practitioners and and learners are introduced to padlet and wakelet - easy to use and free of charge.
- A selection of “good to go” resources is available for practitioners to use and adapt to the needs of their classes/learners.
- N5 Discursive Writing Wakelet: can be used for class teaching, as a resource for learners, for extension or homework tasks.
- Advanced Higher English Dissertation Padlet: can be used as a teaching tool and/or simply shared with pupils. Other titles can easily be added.
