Alloa Academy Health and Wellbeing Interactive Poster
In February 2021, we launched a Mental Health and Wellbeing interactive poster through our google classrooms. This was also shared across all Clackmannanshire Secondaries and a differentiated version was shared with Alloa Academy’s feeder school’s P7’s. As we were in the midst of our second lockdown, we felt there was a need to focus on positive mental health. We wanted to create a resource that covered creative and physical activities that could be used by all members of our community to help improve / boost their mental health and wellbeing.
We created an interactive poster using “Thinglink” please see the link below.
We pulled together a range of resources, including TED talks, physical exercises, mindful activities including music, art, dance, sporting activities and relaxing stories read by celebrities. The document is live and continues to be added to as we discover and create new resources which we believe to be beneficial.
Immediate benefits might include the calming of the user’s mood. Depending on which activity they have chosen. They might feel energised, calmer, more positive, relaxed… It is an experience unique to the user.
Longer term outcomes, we would hope is continued use of the resource in order to maintain good mental health and wellbeing. As the resource is live and continues to grow, users can “dip back in” to favourite activities or try new ones.
The posters have been viewed over 800 times (secondary and primary versions). Bedtime stories to help people get to sleep or get back to sleep proved popular. The poster generated discussion around which activities staff and pupils had tried and which they would recommend. The discussion / feedback was hugely positive.
